We all need to get around and we all want our public streets to be safe and comfortable to walk, roll, drive, or sit on. The transportation committee is a forum to discuss the problems, the improvements, and the dreams for our public streets.
The transportation committee was formed with the below goals.
- Discuss & Analyze: Act as a forum for neighborhood mobility issues, including transit, pedestrian safety, cycling, traffic efficiency, and parking.
- Educate: Bring transportation experts, speakers, and informational resources to the general membership and website to foster informed civic dialogue.
- Advocate: For improvements to the neighborhood’s transportation infrastructure by drafting letters, articles, and giving public testimony.
- Represent: Serve as the Council’s primary voice on transportation issues that impact or benefit the people of Capitol Hill.
What are we doing?
The transportation committee is hard at work in partnership with Central Seattle Streets for All on Destination Pike.
Destination Pike is a community group pushing for the heart of the Pike/Pine corridor to be the most vibrant and walkable destination in Seattle. This means better sidewalks and public space improvements for Pike and the intersecting streets, along with fun activations that delight people of all ages. It’s obvious that we need more space for people along this stretch of Pike where the street was never built to match the neighborhood’s density.
Destination Pike has been meeting with local businesses, property owners, neighbors, and visitors. We’ve been putting our name out there to make sure our obvious ask doesn’t get forgotten. Would you like to help make this happen?

How do I get involved in the transportation committee?
The CHCC transportation committee primarily uses our Discord. When topics warrant discussion we may schedule in person meetings. The transportation channel on our discord is a great place to start. We’ll happily discuss your ideas and what it would take to make them a reality.
Want to speak or think we should learn from somebody? Let us know!
Working on a transportation project you’d like us to discuss and put our name behind? We’ll happily have the conversation or help you with the project! Let us know what you’re working on
