Cal Anderson Park is about to launch a new Emergency Hub and is hosting an Urban Survival Skills Fair on Sunday Sept. 7th from 3-5pm at Cal Anderson Park in the Sunbowl area. We’d love to see you there, we’ll have booths talking about various preparedness topics including how to administer Narcan, what you should have in your home, how to handle waste when the water is out and more!

After a major disaster, hubs are activated at predetermined locations where neighbors and community members are likely to gather. The focus is community information sharing and helping each other instead of waiting for the city or first responders to arrive. A skills fair is the perfect opportunity to get a preview of volunteer roles in a disaster, meet your neighbors, and empower your community! And the more community members that attend, the more grant funding we can access to improve future events and hub equipment.
